The Dish of Communal Work
Anatolian wedding and communal-work tradition
Keşkek is not a recipe alone but a way of making together: at weddings wheat and meat are pounded in turns for hours, and the dish cooks through the shared labour of the village. This ceremonial tradition was inscribed on the UNESCO intangible heritage list in 2011.
